We found Bastien locked in a barren cage on a dreadful dog meat farm in Namyangju, South Korea. He had been living in pain for far too long with a severe case of mange left untreated. Sealed away and hidden from the world, he was destined to die for his meat.

Nara, HSI’s local campaign manager, has been ensuring the care and health of the dogs and is confirming they are receiving nutritious food daily—for the first time in their lives. She has also been monitoring Bastien since he received veterinary treatment for his skin condition, and he’s feeling and looking better and better every day.
