The Trump administration has made it clear that it plans to strip gray wolves of their Endangered Species Act protections nationwide, allowing states to declare open season on these majestic and ecologically critical carnivores. And make no mistake: when Endangered Species Act protections vanish, wolves die. Just look at Wyoming, where protections for wolves were stripped away two years ago, allowing hunters to gun down more than 100 wolves last year and this year.
